Why are European fruits more well-known than North American ones?

I never hear Europeans mention how great crab apples, black walnut, concord grapes or blueberries are. Is it arrogance or ignorance?

As North Americans, we have a lot of great indigenous edible plants, but many of them are only eaten locally, and aren't well-known outside their regular habitats, while the European species are eaten everywhere. I very well understand the historical context of the situation, but shouldn't we promote the cultivation of our own plants so that they can be recognized more on an international scale?
